Furrow is now closed for submissions, but we will open again for submissions starting Dec. 1.

We accept unpublished poetry, fiction, nonfiction, art, and comics by undergraduate students from Dec. 1 to Feb. 20 each year.

To be eligible for publication in our next issue, you must be enrolled as an undergraduate at any U.S. college or university during the academic year in which the issue is published. (So if you’re enrolled in fall or winter, you’re still eligible for publication that spring.) We will notify you by mid-April with our decisions.

Each student may submit:

  • One short story (up to 5,000 words, double-spaced)
  • One essay (up to 5,000 words, double-spaced)
  • Up to 5 poems
  • Up to 5 works of art
  • Up to 10 pages of comics
