Here are just a few of the many excellent undergraduate students who have worked with me in the Structure Group at UWM:
Adrian Ralser
Adrian was also part of team Southern Iberian Shear Zone. He cut samples into cubes and analyzed their magnetic fabrics using Anisotropy of Magnetic Susceptibility (AMS). After graduation, Adrian works as a geologist for a geotechnical company in Madison.
Team Southern Iberian Shear Zone 2022: Leeann Grahler, Autumn Routson, Mikayla Walker
Valerie Rubalcava
Valerie studied microstructures associated with deformation along the Southern Iberian Shear Zone. After she finished her BS in Geosciences, she went on to do a MS degree and now is a geologist at a geotechnical firm in Arizona.
Dulce Hernandez-Blanchard
Dulce worked as part of team Southern Iberian Shear Zone where she studied microstructures in metabasite rocks. Dulce finished her degree in geosciences and now works in the geotechnical industry in Milwaukee.
Joshua Reed
Josh studied microstructures in small-scale shear zones in gabbros from the Rainy Lake district in Ontario, Canada. After completing his degree, he started work as a geologist for a consulting firm in Milwaukee and later used his lab skills in the beverage industry.
Nancy Duque
Nancy studied geochemical changes in the Pulo do Lobo formation along the Southern Iberian Shear Zone. She was awarded one of the UWM OUR Senior Excellence in Research Awards for her work! After completing her BS in Geosciences, Nancy joined our group as an MS student.
Detaya Johnson
Detaya studied geochemical changes in deformed conglomerate clasts from the Seine Conglomerates (Rainy Lake region in Ontario, Canada).
Leah Warder
Leah joined us when we were studying deformation in the Rice Bay Dome in the Rainy Lake District in Ontario, Canada.
Jack Graham
Jack joined our team when we conducted fieldwork on the Loch Borralan pluton in the Scottish Highlands.
Daniel Kelley
Daniel became quite adept at running XRF samples as an undergraduate student. He collected a lot of data, especially for the Utah diamictite project and taught a lot of other students how to prep and run samples.
Victoria Robison
Victoria was a UROP student who majored in physics. For her geology resesearch, she studied boudinage structures from Baraboo, WI. Her preliminary research was the basis for Jolene’s subsequent MS project.
Pat Votava
Victoria was a UROP student who majored in physics. For her geology resesearch, she studied boudinage structures from Baraboo, WI. Her preliminary research was the basis for Jolene’s subsequent MS project.
Jody Rymaszewski
Jody finished her BA in Geosciences in 2007. She and her research partner Jason Friedrich studied small scale faults and joints associated with the Waukesha Fault in Southeastern Wisconsin.
For more information, go to Jody’s abstract from the 2007 Institute on Lake Superior Geology Conference in Lutsen, MN.
Melissa Meeuwsen
Melissa finished her BS in 2006. She worked on an independent project to study fabric formation. She used the same deformed conglomerates that Darlene studied to document fabric foliation at various degrees of strain. She was particularly interested in the role of competence contrasts in fabric formation. For more information, go to Melissa’s GSA abstract from Salt Lake City 2005.
Since graduating, Melissa has been gainfully employed as a geoscientist in Minnesota.
