Interface Design: Summary

This module focuses on the interface design of digital libraries. Each of the module’s sections are summarized below:

  • Software & Tutorials: A summary of several digital library programs including: CONTENTdm, DSpace, Greenstone, Omeka, and VuDL. Each summary includes the system requirements, software specific tutorials, and links to existing digital libraries running the particular software. This section also contains three tutorials related to CONTENTdm and the exercises. One tutorial demonstrates how to build a collection directly on the CONTENTdm website, while the other two tutorials focus on customizing the CONTENTdm interface.
  • Sample Files: Provides several sample images from the AGSL Digital Photo Archive at the UW-Milwaukee Libraries. Associated descriptive information accompanies each image.
  • Exercises: Includes two exercises: create a collection for CONTENTdm & configure the CONTENTdm interface.
  • Resources & Best Practices: Listing of suggested readings on interface design.
