AASP announces the Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research (JASPR) and calls for open editorial board positions

Dr. Arvinen-Barrow, Associate Professor in the Laboratory for Sport Psychology & Performance Excellence and the establishing Editor-in-Chief of the new AASP foundation sponsored student-centric journal informs us that the new AASP foundation sponsored journal now has a name, vision, mission, and scope. “I am pleased to announce the Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research (JASPR). Since my appointment to the establishing Editor-in-Chief role in January 2019, Dr. Amanda J. Visek (establishing Associate Editor) and I have worked with a group of students and early-career professionals with a goal of producing a rigorous product that the students can be proud of.”

Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research aims to expand the field of psychology in the domains of sport, exercise, and performance by publishing rigorous scholarship for students, academics, researchers, and applied practitioners. Specifically, JASPR provides students and early-career professionals aspiring to develop their scholarship skills with innovative opportunities to participate as authors, reviewers, and editorial board members within a mentored publishing infrastructure.

JASPR will accept manuscript submissions beginning in Spring 2020. Submissions can include primary and secondary, basic, applied, and developmental research using qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodologies. Submissions can expand across a range of psychological topics in the domains of sport, exercise, and performance.

Journal for Advancing Sport Psychology in Research is seeking to fill the following 2-year term editorial board positions, starting January 1, 2020.

Review of applicants will begin immediately, and all positions will remain open until filled. First consideration will be given to applications received by November 18, 2019.

JASPR is also seeking manuscript reviewers. Students, academics, researchers, and applied practitioners with all levels of experience in psychology of sport, exercise, and performance are highly encouraged to apply.
