LSPPE Students Honored at UWM Fellowship Celebration

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Golda Meir Library conference center, Ken Ildefonso and Derek Zike were honored among the 2019-20 fellowship recipients at the 2019 Graduate Student Fellowship Celebration.

Ken Ildefonso has been awarded the UWM Graduate School Distinguished Graduate Student (DGSF) Fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year. The DGSF recognizes strong academic achievement or exceptional potential, demonstrated leadership potential, and research goals. In appreciation of this honor, Ildefonso said, “It is a privilege to be recognized. This award will have a positive substantial impact on my studies.”

Derek Zike has been awarded the UWM Graduate School Advance Opportunity Program (AOP) Fellowship for the 2019-2020 academic year. This need-based, renewable award recognizes strong academic achievement and potential. In appreciation of this honor, Zike said, “The AOP fellowship will provide me with a sense of financial security and allow me to increase the time allocated to my studies.”

Other LSPPE students receiving funding for the 2019-20 academic year include Becca Beauchemin, Jordan Kaluzny, and Carly Wahl. Beauchemin and Kaluzny have been awarded the Department of Kinesiology Graduate Program Chancellors Graduate Student Award (CGSA) for the 2019-2020 academic year. Kalyuzny is the recipient of the Department of Kinesiology Teaching Assistantship, and Wahl has been awarded the Chancellor’s Graduate Student Award (CGSA) for Fall 2019 by the Health Sciences PhD Program in the College of Health Sciences.
