thistle girl

Poetry by Marla Smith

i am an alienated brain
among steady swimmers
a lanky, ghastly protrusion
my mother says i am special
but i think she meant to say spectral
or not, a ghost wouldn’t feel this vilified
but then again i have never met a ghost.
