Graduate student Lisa Taxier was named the winner of UWM’s inaugural Three Minute Thesis competition! This competition encourages students to effectively explain their graduate research projects in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. The competition drew nearly 100 students and the 14 finalists presented yesterday. Lisa’s 3MT talk explained our Alzheimer’s Association-funded project to study how sex, estrogens, and a particular genetic risk factor for late-onset Alzheimer’s interact to affect memory.
