Structural Engineering Laboratory partial remodel and new equipment

The instructional area of the Structural Engineering Laboratory was recently remodeled to include more space for hands-on testing by students, more electromechanical test machines and more workstations. The electromechanical and servo-hydraulic test machines in the laboratory are also in the process of being upgraded and equipped with the latest software. The lab acquired three new electro-mechanical test machines with enhanced load capacity and up-to-date capabilities.

The Research Advisory Committee of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) has selected the project entitled “Evaluation of Thin Polymer Overlays for Bridge Decks,” (Habib Tabatabai, Principal Investigator) as one of eight nationwide high-value projects and innovations related to maintenance.
