Background

The Structural Engineering Laboratory (SEL) began its activities in the 1970s and has since served as a prominent resource for state-of-the-art research and development activities in structural and materials engineering. The UWM SEL is one of the largest such facilities in the state of Wisconsin and is an ISO/IEC 17025 certified testing laboratory. The design of the structural lab replicates the early and prominent structural laboratory of the Portland Cement Association in Skokie, Illinois. It has substantial capabilities for testing a wide range of structural materials, components and systems for buildings, bridges, factories, machinery, automotive structures, etc.
