Shama Mizra
Director of the State-of-the-art Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory and Research Core
Prof. Shama Mirza is the Director of the State-of-the-art Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory and Research Core and an Associate Professor in UWM’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She has extensive experience in various MS technologies for analyzing a wide array of analytes ranging from small molecules like organic compounds and metabolites to large compounds like proteins, peptides and oligonucleotides. She is highly-qualified to manage the diverse range of research applications anticipated for the instrument and provide training to researchers as needed. In the MS facility, she directs projects and programs, evaluates new technologies, develops ideas for new research projects, reviews and approves reports, supervises hiring, training, and goal setting, and offers performance evaluations of staff. Prof. Mirza teaches undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students by offering courses and workshops including lectures on theoretical aspects of MS and labs with hands-on training on the MS instruments. She also serves as PI, Co-PI and consultant in several national and internationally funded grants.

Ethan Kub
Manager of the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory
Dr. Ethan Kub is the manager of the State-of-the-art Analytical Instrumentation Laboratory and Research Core in UWM’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He oversees the day-to-day functions of a shared-use laboratory supporting a diverse research community. Operations include managing and maintaining advanced mass spectrometry instrumentation, developing and optimizing analytical methods, and coordinates user training and helps with any issues they encounter.
