  • January 1, 2016. Dr. Nosonovsky has joined the Editorial Board of the journal “Surface Topography” (Institute of Physics, UK).
  • December 2015. An interview with Dr. Nosonovsky was published in UWM “Intersections”
  • October 2015, Dr. Nosonovsky recieved ASME Tribology Division Best Reviewer Award.
  • June 5, 2015. Wisconsin University System’s Board of Regents has approved the promotion of Dr. M. Nosonovsky to the rank of Associate Professor with tenure.
  • May 24-26, 2015. Rahul Ramachandran and Dr. Nosonovsky participated in the Fifth International Symposium on Nanotechnology in Construction NICOM5 with a poster and a lecture about the superhydrophobic and icephobic concrete.
  • May 20, 2015. An interview with Dr. Nosonovsky “An American way in science” (in Russian) was published by a Russian journal http://gefter.ru/archive/15193
  • March 1, 2015. Dr. Nosonovsky was selected as the UWM Global Studies Research Fellow 2015/2016 with his project “Biomimetics for water cities”.
  • February 25-27, 2015. Dr. Nosonovsky participated in the The Energy and Materials Research Conference EMR2015 in Madrid, Spain and presented a paper on Superhydrophobicity and icephobicity for energy materials.
  • September 26, 2014. Dr. Nosonovsky was interviewed about philosophical and engineering implications of biomimetic materials for Michael Nelson’s podcast show “Midwest Real“.
  • September 2, 2014. Nazanin Maani, a new PhD student and a recepient of CEAS Dean’s fellowship, joined the group and started her research on friction-induced self-organization.
  • August, 2014. A large poster about Dr. Nosonovsky’s work was installed by the CEAS Dean’s office at the 11th floor of the EMS building.
  • July 28 – August 1, 2014. Dr. Michael Nosonovsky delivered two presentations at the The Eights International Conference on Material Technologies and Modeling (MMT-2014) in Ariel University, Israel.
  • July 28, 2014. Paper ““Surface micro/nanotopography, wetting properties and the potential for biomimetic icephobicity of skunk cabbage Symplocarpus foetidus” by R. Ramachandran and M.   • July 12, 2014. Dr. Michael Nosonovsky, as a member of the Executive Committee of the ASME Tribology Division, participated in the ASME Leadership oriantation seminar at Kansas City, MO.
  • July 1, 2014. Dr. Michael Nosonovsky is elected a member at large of the Executive Committee of the ASME Tribology Division for 2014-2019.
  • July 1, 2014. Dr. Vahid Hejazi started his new job as a researched at Rice University. Dr. Vahid Mortazavi started his new job as a researcher at Louisiana State University.
  • May 29, 2014. Rahul Ramachandran presented his poster “Superhydrophobic/oleophilic and hydrophilic/oleophobic porous media” at the 6th International Conference on Porous Media (INTERPORE2014).
  • May 28, 2014. Dr. Nosonovsky presented a talk “Superhydrophobic and Icephobic Concrete and Porous Materials” and chaired a session “Imbibition in Nanoporous Media” at the 6th International Conference on Porous Media (INTERPORE2014).
  • May 18, 2014. Dr. Vahid Hejazi and Dr. Vahid Mortazavi were officially “hooded” for their PhD degrees at the UWM 2014 Gold Commencement Ceremony.

  • August 2013. Proposal by P. K. Rohatgi and M. Nosonovsky “Advanced design and novel In-situ synthesis of self-cleaning and wear resistant metallic surfaces for water industry components” got funded by NSF for $199k.

Mr. Sombath Bounket, one of the best MPS teachers, measures CA hysteresis in the PI’s lab during his training under the NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION (NSF) Research Experience for Teachers (RET) project. In Fall 2012 he will use his knowledge to teach high-school students about the biomimetic surfaces

  • September 10, 2014. Dr. Nosonovsky conducted an interview with Prof. Stuart Rojstaczer, the America’s “grade inflation tzar”, about his new book “The Mathematitian’s Shiva” and other issues for the UWM’s Stahl Center for Jewish studies series of Interviews With Guest Speakers (video posted at http://www4.uwm.edu/jewishstudies/media/index.cfm).

  • August, 2014. Dr. Nosonovsky participated in the field schools on Hebrew Epigraphy in Ludza (Latvia) and Birzai (Lithuania) organized by the Sefer – the Center for University Teaching of Jewish Civilization and delivered lectures there about the genre of Hebrew epitaph (lecture in Russian, video will be posted, please see also this clip at).
