A two-year position for a postdoctoral research associate is available in the laboratory our lab at the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
We seek a postdoc to use comparative genomics to further our understanding of human health relevant microorganism survival in secondary environments outside of hosts. Our lab works at the intersection of environmental microbiology and public health to understand the occurrence, distribution, and significance of indicators, pathogens, and antibiotic resistant bacteria in the secondary environment. Organisms of interest include Enterobacteriaceae (both commensal and clinically relevant) and Acinetobacter spp. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in a field related to bioinformatics/genomics or microbial sciences and have proven ability in molecular and microbiology laboratory techniques and genome analysis as well as strong writing and communication skills. Experience in conducting field work is desirable. The School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is located on the shores of Lake Michigan and offers a unique interdisciplinary environment to pursue research questions in a collaborative and scientifically stimulating environment.
