Laboratory for Sport Psychology & Performance Excellence faculty members Dr. Barbara Meyer and Dr. Monna Arvinen-Barrow were recently interviewed by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to respond to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s post-game press conference. Antetokounmpo’s comments included his perspectives on failure following the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff loss, including his belief that “there’s no failure in sports”. During the conversation, Dr. Meyer and Dr. Arvinen-Barrow shared their thoughts on topics such as the complexity of defining failure and the psychology of elite performers.

Additionally, Dr. Arvinen-Barrow was asked for a response to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s post-game press conference by WISN 12 News. In her response, Dr. Arvinen-Barrow indicated her approval of his statement and the importance of learning from failure to come back stronger next time.
