Course Description
Pollutant sources and sinks, fundamental pollutant chemistry, monitoring techniques, averaging boundary layers and turbulence, diffusion theories, diffusion models, regional and global-scale pollution problems.
Learning Objectives
Students will:
- Become familiar with basic concepts air pollution meteorology including visibility, radiation, stability, turbulence, wind profiles and diffusion models
- Gain the ability to solve applied air pollution problems using appropriate quantitative physical and mathematical methods
- Gain an understanding of the physical significance of quantitative concepts in air pollution meteorology.
To comply with a Higher Learning Commission requirement, the course syllabus will provide information on the investment of time by an average student to achieve the learning goals of the course.
