Marissa Zarda, “The Impact of The Feminine Mystique: How One Book Can Change Society”

Description

This project looks into how Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique impacted life during the 1960s and beyond. By using people’s early responses, both negative and positive, and the lasting reactions today towards this topic, the research will reveal how and why ideas, specifically those in The Feminine Mystique, can become critical historical forces. It will show how in a certain time and place the power of a book can become beyond what might seem reasonable. This research indicates that the ideas and beliefs that came from this book changed society in many ways and, contrary to what people may believe, continues to be relevant in the world today.
