You are cordially invited to join us for Communities of Play: A Livestreaming Symposium, hosted by Serious Play/the Digital Cultures Collaboratory. The symposium is taking place on April 17-18, featuring online presentations of and about streaming video gameplay and other performative activities, in and out of the academy. The event will feature streamers from around the U.S. and will coordinate with a parallel event in Jyväskylä, Finland. The symposium will take place on Twitch, so please join us in chat! I am a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the English department’s Media, Cinema, and Digital Studies plan. My research in media is multifaceted, ranging from platform studies to game studies, but above all I am always interested in the relationship between media and the climate crisis.
