Wisconsin Women In Higher Education
Leadership
WWHEL* is a space for mutual support and professional growth. As higher education leaders, we each have an important role to play in cultivating and mentoring gender-diverse leaders on our campus. WWHEL aims to positively affect Wisconsin’s transition to an inclusive and just society while contributing to the global, knowledge-based economy. We bring an appreciative, positive, and authentic leadership style to our endeavors in post-secondary education.
WWHEL’s events, programs, and spaces are welcoming to all who are interested in these goals. WWHEL provides opportunities for networking, information sharing, and support, with the goal of developing leaders that reflect the diversity of our campus community. WWHEL supports leadership skill-building, providing insight into administrative roles, identifying career development contacts, and accessing state and national resources.
Allies and accomplices are welcome.
*Like our friends at UWM’s Women’s Resource Center, WWHEL’s efforts are not meant to be exclusionary as our definition of “women”/”womxn” includes multiple identities (including but not limited to those who identify as women/womxn, transgender, femme and non-binary/gender-nonconforming). We also understand that women experience gender-based marginalization and that this marginalization is compounded by other intersecting identities. WWHEL is intended for those who self-identify as women (cis and trans) and all who have lived experience of misogyny as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women/womxn.
