Attendee Information — Wisconsin Hand Experience 2025

Event Location

In-Person and Online. In-Person will take place at the Crowne Plaza Milwaukee South 6401 South 13th Street, Milwaukee, WI 53221. $116 Single/Double Room Rates. Make reservations online or by calling 866-663-4577 by April 9, 2025. For the room rate you must identify yourself as a member of “University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee” and reference Block Code “U24 (uniform-two-four).” Ample free parking is available at the event venue. 

Online will take place via Whova Events App and Zoom.

Event Registration

Upon arrival, check in at the registration desk to pick up your event handouts and verify your attendance in order to receive your continuing education units. Online Attendees attendance will be recorded automatically within the event app. 

Conference App

In-person and online participants will use the Whova Events app to engage in conference activities. Please note that if you are using the desktop platform, Chrome or Firefox are the preferred web browsers. If you are attending in person, we recommend you download the mobile app to your phone or tablet.

The Whova app will allow registered participants the ability to access conference information including the agenda, handouts, speaker bios, and view the live streams of the sessions. Event app users will also be able to create user profiles, share insights, network with other conference attendees and speakers, ask questions during the sessions and interact with event sponsors.

Getting started with Wisconsin Hand Experience and the Whova App:

Please note that if you are using the desktop platform, Chrome or Firefox are the preferred web browsers. If you are attending in person, we recommend you download the mobile app to your phone or tablet.

After downloading the Whova mobile app or accessing the event via the web portal, use the email address that was used during registration to sign up for a Whova account. To protect user data, Whova requires two-factor authentication at sign-in. After entering your email and password, a verification code will be sent to your email. Please check your inbox and spam folder for the code. Detailed instructions can be found here.

Already used the Whova app in the past? Double-check that it is installed on your phone, and log in using your existing account email and password. If you need more guidance on how to use Whova to attend the event, please visit Whova User Guides.

If you aren’t directly added to the event and are asked for an event invitation code when accessing the event, please contact Ron Wiza (wiza@uwm.edu) for technical assistance specific to the Wisconsin Hand Experience.

Event Platform & Livestream FAQ

I haven't received any emails about how to access the Event Platform.

Go to the inbox of the email you used when you registered for the event. Check your SPAM folder & filters in that email inbox. Look for emails from sce-hps@uwm.edu and scemktg@sce.uwm.edu.

You can add the emails above & below to your "Safe Sender List" (How do Edit Safe Senders in Outlook article, How to Edit Approved Senders in Gmail article, How to edit this in other platforms article/website)

To securely protect user and organizer event data, we require two-factor authentication when signing into your Whova account. After you input your email and password, we will send a verification code to your email address. Please check your email for the code.

In case the email containing your verification code is not visible in your inbox or you did not receive the code, please check your spam or junk folder.

If the email is not in either of these folders, please contact your email service provider or IT department to unblock or whitelist emails from our system with the following information:

    How do I download Chrome and/or know if my Chrome browser is the most up to date?
    I am using Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge or Safari.

    The latest version of Chrome is recommended (article on how to update Chrome). If you would like to use Firefox, please use the most up to date version. More Support for Chrome & Firefox below.  Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge & Safari are not fully supported. You need 10+ Mbps upload and download speed to participate fully. (You can check your speed using a speed test website like: https://www.speedtest.net/)

    I have accessed the event platform, but I am having trouble with viewing the livestream.
    1. Refresh your browser page. When you refresh your page you may need to unmute the livestream (by turning on the sound in the bottom right corner).
    2. Do you have 10MPS upload and download speed? If you are a speaker or moderator do you have a 25MPS upload and download speed? (check speed at https://www.speedtest.net/
    3. Are you using the most up-to-date version of Chrome on a computer? Support Article here: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95414?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
    4. Please close all your other tabs & clear your cache and restart your browser and device: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
    5. If you are on a corporate device/network you may have various blocks preventing access. Please try to using a personal device and network. Please don't use VPNs, Ad Blockers, Remote Desktops & Firewalls (article about this can be found here. You can send to your IT department.
    6. Is the wrong audio or video device connected to your computer? If you have more than one device (such as a Bluetooth headset and wired speakers), your computer may be trying to use the wrong one. Double check that your audio input/output is set to the correct device in the operating system.   
    7. If you are still having trouble email sce-hps@uwm.edu with the email you registered with. (this is so we can look up your registration quickly).

     

    I am using a VPN, Remote Desktop and/or Ad Blocker.

    Try using Google Chrome on a computer with (10 Mbps upload and download speed)

    Please disable any adblockers, firewalls and VPNs.  Ad blockers can also be a part of your antivirus software - make sure the program has a web shield disabled. If you are using remote desktop it's could also block access or slow your connection. This article explains how to turn off Ad Blockers in Chrome.     I received the alert "Email not registered/not registered for this event"

    Please check what email address received your confirmation message for the conference (from uwm-confirmation@uwm.edu). You must use the email address you used at registration to access the Whova event platform.

    If you log in with an email address that contains a typo or isn’t the same email you registered with, you won’t be able to receive password reset requests. If you can’t access the email address you registered with, don’t remember the address or need to update the email address, please email sce-hps@uwm.edu as soon as possible for us to update your account.

    I am on a corporate network & having trouble with the Event Platform.

    Try using Google Chrome on a computer with (10 Mbps upload and download speed)

    Sometimes there are issues on corporate networks or custom configured VPN connections. In this case, IT admins need to be contacted regarding allowlisting the domains that are listed below make sure everything runs smoothly.

    Individuals who are registered are watching the Event Together. How do we all gain CEUs?

    Please email sce-hps@uwm.edu and let us know who is in your group. We also encourage each person to join on the mobile app or web browser livestream to participate. By joining you will be able to ask questions to presenters, interact with exhibitors, converse with other participants and enter the giveaway. If you choose not to access the website/app you will be missing out on the social part of the conference which would be unfortunate & will not show up in backend records. In order to receive your CEU Certificate, you must fill out a digital course evaluation for each day & notify us you are watching as a group. Your CEUs will be emailed within three weeks of filling out the Evaluations. This email will be from sce-hps@uwm.edu. 

    I want to watch the LIVE presentations on an iPad.

    The latest version of Chrome browser on a computer is recommended, but you should be able to watch an iPad or iPhone using the Whova app.

    How do I "check in" or make sure I gain CEUs while attending online?

    In person attendees will check in at the registration desk. For online attendees, joining the Whova Event Platform and viewing the livestream will count as checking in & filling out the emailed evaluations at the end of the day will allow us to follow up with your CEU Certificate by email within three weeks. You may also have to turn off your ad blocker for us to track your attendance (article about how to do that in Chrome here) Please add scemktg@sce.uwm.edu & sce-hps@uwm.edu to your allow list or address book. 

    I can't find my Course Evaluation Email.

    Check your spam folder for an email from sce-hps@uwm.edu or scemktg@sce.uwm.edu.  Course Evaluation emails with links to the forms will be sent at the end of each day. If you don't receive it by the following day, please email sce-hps@uwm.edu with the email you registered with.

    I missed a Thursday or Friday Session

    All the Thursday and Friday sessions will be viewed live on the event platform. Sessions are recorded & posted the following day. If you miss a session, you can watch it the next day in the platform. Please notify sce-hps@uwm.edu. if you watch after the live date (as you will not show up in our records the day of). Make sure to watch the sessions and fill out the proper evaluation form to receive your CEUs. Your CEU certificate will be sent three weeks after viewing the content, emailing sce-hps@uwm.edu. & submitting your evaluation form.   

    How do I gain access to the Handouts and the PPT Slide PDFs?

    All the handouts printed & given to attendees at the in-person event can be found within the app.

    NOTE: handouts are subject to change due to speakers' preferences/edits without notice. 

    How do I reset my password in the Event Platform?

    You must use the email address you registered for the conference with to access the Whova event platform. You can find this in your PDF confirmation from uwm-confirmation@uwm.edu. If you don’t know what email we have on file, please reach out to us at sce-hps@uwm.edu.

    Please follow the steps below to reset your password.

    Enter the email address you used when registering for the conference.

    Click “Forgot your password?” link under the “Login” button.

    Follow the instructions on the screen.

    Looking for more help with the Event Platform (Livestream, Mobile App or Web Browser)

    Make sure you are using the most up to date version of Chrome Web Browser. Also double check that you are not on a corporate computer or network.
