Violet Bumah earned a Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Calabar, Nigeria. She received Postdoctoral training at the Universities of Buea, Cameroon and Northwestern University, Chicago, with a focus on Pathogenesis and Immunology of infectious diseases. She is currently a Research Associate in the College of Health Sciences and a member of the Raicu group. She collaborates with researchers in the Department of Physics at UWM, the Medical College of Wisconsin Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Health Department in addressing the pathogenesis of infectious diseases of myriad nature, including Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and malaria. Furthermore, she is investigating the use of alternative therapies such as monochromatic light for MRSA eradication.
