Sasha Karnes (CHS PhD, 2013), a faculty member in the Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was promoted to Associate Professor in August 2020. Dr. Karnes earned a Doctorate in Health Science at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, with emphasis in the psychology of physical activity and exercise physiology. Dr. Karnes joined the faculty at UW-Whitewater in 2013. Along with student researchers and an interdisciplinary team of experts at the Applied Health Psychology Lab (AHPLab), Dr. Karnes conducts research in the area of disease prevention and health promotion. Specific research activities are centered around using health data to guide and inform health interventions. Dr. Karnes specializes in developing and testing web-based programs to increase health behaviors including physical activity and breakfast consumption.
