Research Interests: A condensed matter physicist studying superconductivity, magnetism, and ferroelectricity. His current interests are in elucidating structure-property relationships in magnetoelectric DyMnO3, HoMnO3 and PbTi(1-x)FexO3. The focus of his current research is on fabrication and property studies of binary and tenary metal oxides in the form of powders and single crystals grown from a floating zone. Using XANES and EXAFS techniques, Dr. Zou is also studying oxidation states, bond angles, and the local environment of these various oxide systems.

Research Interests: His current interests lie in the study of relationships between crystal structure and properties such as magnetism and ferroelectricity in oxide multiferroic materials. Sen is also interested in low temperature synthesis routes such as sol-gel processes (e.g. Pb(Ti,Fe)O3, Pb(Ti,Ni)O3) and single crystal growth by floating zone (e.g., SmMnO3 or EuMnO3). Studying relationships between oxidation states, bond angles, and the local environment are among his specific interests.

Research Interests: His research interests involve contemporary condensed matter, structural, and materials physics, with an emphasis on magnetoelectricity and other collective phenomena. Systems currently under study include magnetoelectric multiferroic single crystals of RMnO3 (R = Tb, Y, Yb) and their doped analogues grown by the floating zone technique. He has also worked on the structural aspects of the magnetoelectric manganite RMnO3 series and PbTi(1-x)FexO3, looking at both local and average structure by Pair Distribution Function(PDF) and Rietveld Methods.
