Play- and Humor-Infused Gradual Exposure Therapy

Child Neurodevelopment Research Lab

Thank you for your interest in learning about using play- and humor-infused exposure therapy to reduce fear and anxiety of children with Williams syndrome!

While each child with Williams syndrome is unique, many children with Williams syndrome show fears, phobias, and anxieties and have intense emotional reactions to certain situations, objects, and experiences.

On this site, we outline an approach to helping children with Williams syndrome gain new-found comfort in anxiety-evoking situations by using play and humor to carry out exposure therapy.
