In November 2018 the CoE AMM team completed an intensive six-month planning process to determine interest in establishing a Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials & Manufacturing. The initiative was led by UWM and included extensive one-on-one and group interviews across the state, with industry and academia. The leadership team also built a steering advisory board comprised of leaders in academia and industry (see Phase 2, below) to help shape the process and address key needs statewide. The process culminated in a workshop which brought together almost 70 members of academia and industry from across the state.
The results overwhelmingly confirmed that there is widespread support by Wisconsin’s advanced materials manufacturers and public, private, four- and two-year universities and technical colleges to develop and participate in this Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials & Manufacturing. You can view feedback from the planning process by clicking on Phase 3: Industry/University Workshop.
The next steps are for the team to submit a proposal to form the Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials & Manufacturing to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
