Father Inclusive Prenatal Care (FIPC)

FIPC is a new program to help fathers and mothers work together to provide for their children. This program is part of the Erie Fatherhood Project – a collaboration between Erie Family Health Centers, Rush University, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

What does this involve?

  • Educating Parents about how to understand and care for their infants.
  • Strengthening and stabilizing families through father involvement.
  • Providing educational and employment support to help the young parents find and keep living wage jobs.

This model has been designed to be flexible enough to meet the needs of parents and couples belonging to different cultural groups and living in different social contexts.

Who is eligible?

  • A first-time pregnant woman between the ages of 17-25
  • An expectant father between the ages of 18-29
  • Both expectant parents must participate at the same time
  • Patients receiving care at Erie Family Health Centers
  • If a parent is under 18 years old, we will need to get their parent or legal guardian’s written consent

What are the incentives for participating?

Each parent will receive:

  • $10 for each session they complete with a FIPC provider (up to 15 meetings) for a total of $150.
  • $50 gift card for baby supplies per couple
  • $25 gift card after attending the first meeting with our career development partner
  • $30 gift card after completing an exit interview at the program graduation

Each parent can earn up to $230 for completing the FIPC program!
