A Systematic Community Approach to Aging Issues in the Milwaukee’s Latinos

Sponsored by the UWM Office of Research through the Collaborative Research Team Development Awards, we are organizing a seminar on “A Systematic Community Approach to Aging Issues in the Milwaukee’s Latinos.”

The guest speaker, Al Castro, is the Health Research Program Director at the United Community Center in Milwaukee. He has over 40 years of experience in social work and management positions. In 2014, UW-Milwaukee recognized Al Castro with the Outstanding Social Work Field Instructor Award.

This seminar will give health care professional the knowledge to utilize collaboration to improve the health, wellness, and social circumstances of high risk and low-income Latino older adults struggling with health and social disparities. It will also provide the opportunity to learn ongoing and promising efforts to increase the capacity of the future workforce to meet the increasing need for bilingual/ bicultural health and social service professionals.
