A core principle of our mission is to engage with the community including the UW-Milwaukee campus. We want to foster deeper connections with the world around us in Milwaukee and beyond. Youth in Action is always looking to meet new community members and set an example for what it means to be a global citizen.
Institute of World Affairs (IWA)
As one of our founders, IWA is a continuous collaborator. They bring presenters from all over the world to educate and work with the Milwaukee community. Their mission is to help people explore the connections between their lives and the world around them.
TRIO and PreCollege’s Quest Project
Our other founding department, Quest Project is one of the many offices in TRIO & PreCollege who works to provide educational access and opportunities to individuals and families to empower communities and inspire future generations to thrive. As a part of the Quest Project, students have access to pre-college planning, tutoring, and extracurricular courses.
UWM Libraries have been a great partner on Youth in Action, providing us with access to their facilities for research purposes. A special thanks to Tiffany Thornton, a UWM Outreach & Community Engagement Librarian, for working with our students on their SDG projects and creating their deliverables.
University Housing and Sandberg Hall in particular were our very accommodating hosts during the June 2019 program. We look forward to collaborating more on programs and engaging with students living on campus.

After a 2016 survey found that 50% of students did not have enough food to eat, UWM started a mission to address food insecurity on campus and part of that work is the Food Pantry.
