Milwaukee Virtual Tour of SDGs

Many of us are working towards the Global Goals without knowing that we are a part of a much larger movement. Here are organizations working toward each of the Sustainable Development Goals. There are many more who are not named here and we wish we could list them all because they all do great work. However, this tour is meant to highlight how organizations are apart of the Global Goals.

#1 No Poverty: Community Advocates – Public Policy Institute

“The Public Policy Institute targets poverty in a number of ways – we try to reduce it through nonpartisan changes to relevant public policies and laws; we try to prevent its effects through public health efforts; and we work to increase opportunity and wellness for low-income people by fostering factors related to success, resilience, and well-being.”

#2 No Hunger: Hunger Task Force – Free & Local

“Hunger Task Force believes that every person has a right to adequate food obtained with dignity. We work to prevent hunger and malnutrition by providing food to people in need today and by promoting social policies to achieve a hunger-free community tomorrow.”

#3 Good Health and Well-being: Milwaukee Global Health Consortium

” The Consortium develops and connects the global health programs and activities of Wisconsin’s organizations in the health, education, research, and government sectors, and improves global health through partnerships that benefit people and communities locally and globally, generating meaningful learning opportunities that produce the next generation of global health leaders.”

#4 Quality Education: Milwaukee Succeeds

“Milwaukee Succeeds was founded on a simple idea: the City of Milwaukee can improve educational outcomes for every child, in every school, when we move forward together. Our partnership, an education initiative made up of over 300 cross-sector organizations, is changing the way adults work together to improve educational achievement spanning cradle to career.”

#5 Gender Equality: Cream City Foundation

“Cream City Foundation mobilizes philanthropic resources by harnessing the pride, passion, and commitment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their allies to advance the human rights and respond to the human needs of LGBTQ+ people in Southeastern Wisconsin.”

By convening leaders from business and industry, economic and workforce development, education, and training as well as community partners and policymakers, our vision is to develop workforce solutions that promote regional economic growth and employment opportunity for all job seekers.”

#9 Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure: The Commons

“For the past five years, we’ve been working with Milwaukee-area high schools, colleges, businesses, and community organizations to build a vibrant ecosystem of the most driven talent in our region. We partner with local companies and community organizations to craft unique innovation experiences that develop skills, inspire curiosity, celebrate diversity, produce meaningful impact, and build professional connections. We use the entrepreneurial mindset and design thinking process to create the perfect environment for people of any age, background, or skill set to collaborate and grow.”

Us, of course! We believe in strengthening the means of implementation and revitalize the global partnerships for sustainable development.
