My project is to document and archive the work and life of John Gleeson including digitizing papers, photographs, and slides for future use. I will also be documenting the achievements and contributions of the Celtic Studies department to the university and the greater Milwaukee community. Professor Gleeson was one of the founding members of the UWM Center for Celtic Studies and was a professor and lecturer here for over 20 years. The materials I am working with are letters, classroom materials, newspapers, and slides. Within the many papers include many syllabi and materials that could be used to reestablish classes that Professor Gleeson previously taught. my work is primarily focused on showing the history and importance of the UWM Center for Celtic Studies to the university and our community. From this, I hope that more people develop an interest in our department and see the work we do and hopefully expand our classes and the department in the future.
