Submissions Open

Please read these details before submitting your piece for consideration in our Juried Show.

Artist Eligibility:

• Artist must be a current college student in the Greater Milwaukee Area

Fees and Payment:

• The cost is $15 per entry, which allows for 3 submissions.
• Entry fees do NOT guarantee entry into the exhibition
• Submissions must be received by January 24th at 5:00pm to be considered for the exhibition.

Awards:

• All entries for The Annual Juried Show will be reviewed by a panel of Milwaukee arts professionals who will select all included participants and designate the top three exhibiting artists.
• The three winners will be announced during the opening reception and will be accompanied by cash prizes.
• The amounts of the cash prizes will be determined by the amount of submissions. The Union Art Gallery does not keep any of the entry fee.

Media:

• 2D artwork: photography, paintings, drawings, printmaking, digital, and mixed media.
• 3D artwork: Digital 3D models or sculptures will be exhibited in the virtual gallery as 3D digital art. Other 3D models or sculptures made with different media (non-digital) will be displayed as images on the virtual gallery wall with selected 2D work.

Image Requirements:

• We accept png or jpeg files.
• Please don’t add watermarks to your images.
• Images should be at least 8 inches for the selection viewing process.
• Label your artwork in the following form: your full name, title, media, and size.
• All artwork must be original and done only by the artist.

Artist Statement:

• Will be used in publications if selected and is “optional.”
• Maximum of 350 words
• Written in the first person and explains the artist’s purpose and inspiration. May include a short background.
• Please note, the statement might be edited if needed to fit with the UWM Union Art Gallery guidelines.

Sales:

• The Union Art Gallery will not handle sales of student artwork for our virtual exhibitions .
• The Union Art Gallery will not take any commission on purchases done on your own website or with the artist directly

Art Selections:

• The three judges of the Annual Juried Show will decide on which artworks will be accepted into exhibits. Staff of the Union Art Gallery will have no part in the selection of work chosen.
• Entries do not guarantee inclusion into an exhibit. The judges will make the selections.
• Artwork must not have been previously shown in any Union Art Gallery virtual galleries.
• All decisions regarding exhibit selections are final.
• Artists will receive email notification of exhibit selections after the submission deadline.
• No cancellation or withdrawals are permitted once art selections are announced.
• The Union Art Gallery reserves the right to cancel, extend or change exhibition dates or content at any time.

Usage Release:

• Artist maintains copyrights on artwork images submitted.
• Selected artwork will be part of our online exhibitions permanently at the discretion of the Union Art Gallery. Art may be used for promoting the exhibit, future call entries, videos, social media, and virtual exhibitions.
• The Annual Juried Show selected artists will have an option (not required) to present a talk during the artist talks.
