In image 1, my friend and I were doing homework in his room, and I noticed how his desk light made him glow from the back even though it was shining on his desk.

In image 2, there is a light behind the t.v. and it made me think "if it was a little lower, it would make the t.v. a silhouette. So then I held up my water bottle and the lighting made it look powerful.

In image 3, I was on a night walk with my friend and I told him to stop walking because I noticed the way a streetlight can backlight someone.

  1. I took this picture today at work. All of our signs are lit from the side so the customers can see them better. It’s interesting because we actually have rails that small lights are hung on and then aimed at the signs/other places in the store.
  2. I took this picture on the way to work. UWM really likes to light all of their signs with low side light.
  3. I took this picture on my way home the other day. It’s not really back or side light but I thought the light on the building and the shadow cast from the sign looked really cool!

  1. While the sun was setting my gorgeous collection was glowing from the light casting a glow from the back.

  2. The sun was expecally bright this day when I was sitting on my futon and the light from the window shone through.

  3. I dont have a picture but while in kenilworth I noticed how the headlight from the car parked behind another car created back light. The lights were especially bright but created shape and glow of the silhouette of the car.

Some overhead lighting from the week. State Fair had some fantastic lighting. Me, Katie, and Lilly went to House on the Rock on Saturday – overhead lighting helped illuminate our journey (specifically, my journey "on" the disco car). Finally, we have an overhead light in our bathroom – my view from the toilet haha.

  1. I took this picture on my walk to work tonight. It looks way cooler at night, but the glow off the side of the garage door sill is still pretty cool! It’s interesting to see how the top light illuminates different things.
  1. This picture doesn’t really fit the assignment, but I went to Six Flags over the weekend and the sunset made the carousel glow. This was the first time we had seen the sun all day, so it was pretty special.
  1. I took this picture while I was on facetime with my mom. I only have top light in my room, so my glasses cast interesting shadows on my face.

Toplight was surprisingly hard! Great excuse to post not only one of my cats but also one of my Grandpas (the black and white one). My friend taylynn was also very helpful for the Journal

I went to State Fair lastnight and their use of light well done. I especially liked in act two when the couples were sitting on the bench with a blue light and an overhead light to pull the focus in. It made the scene feel more intimate. The pre show lights were simple but did their job ti lught the space to gain the auidences eyes to the set. The color of it allowed for it to feel like the show hasn’t started yet.

These are both from my apartment and the pictures do not do the moment justice. The light was so much clearer in both of them in real life, and the first was much more golden matching the lamps and the second more blue. There was also a moment Sunday morning that I didn’t get a chance to capture, it was early early morning and we were driving downtown and going down Wisconsin all the lights were green and the street was empty. With the cool morning light and the green it looked so cool
