Some overhead lighting from the week. State Fair had some fantastic lighting. Me, Katie, and Lilly went to House on the Rock on Saturday – overhead lighting helped illuminate our journey (specifically, my journey "on" the disco car). Finally, we have an overhead light in our bathroom – my view from the toilet haha.

  1. I took this picture on my walk to work tonight. It looks way cooler at night, but the glow off the side of the garage door sill is still pretty cool! It’s interesting to see how the top light illuminates different things.
  1. This picture doesn’t really fit the assignment, but I went to Six Flags over the weekend and the sunset made the carousel glow. This was the first time we had seen the sun all day, so it was pretty special.
  1. I took this picture while I was on facetime with my mom. I only have top light in my room, so my glasses cast interesting shadows on my face.

Toplight was surprisingly hard! Great excuse to post not only one of my cats but also one of my Grandpas (the black and white one). My friend taylynn was also very helpful for the Journal

I went to State Fair lastnight and their use of light well done. I especially liked in act two when the couples were sitting on the bench with a blue light and an overhead light to pull the focus in. It made the scene feel more intimate. The pre show lights were simple but did their job ti lught the space to gain the auidences eyes to the set. The color of it allowed for it to feel like the show hasn’t started yet.

These are both from my apartment and the pictures do not do the moment justice. The light was so much clearer in both of them in real life, and the first was much more golden matching the lamps and the second more blue. There was also a moment Sunday morning that I didn’t get a chance to capture, it was early early morning and we were driving downtown and going down Wisconsin all the lights were green and the street was empty. With the cool morning light and the green it looked so cool

This week’s prompt was a bit more challenging for me. For monochromatic, I have two photos from the Chappell Roan concert I went to on Tuesday – the colors are so vibrant. For subtle lighting, I have the pink coming in from the sunrise on my way to work.

When you think of the world subtle, you think of basic and not intricate. Simple is another synonym. This is a raw picture of the night sky back at home where the stars don’t get interference from the MKE city lights. The blue undertone of the camera along with the simple white specs make this a complex but also simple. You can interoperate to any level you want.

The term monochromatic in lighting world means one color. At 6 flags during freight fest, the use of blue light was dominate to create a spooky feeling.

Another photo reminded me of how they lit the joker. During the day, The joker is green but at night, with the emphasis of blue light makes an almost cyan light creating a cool illusion between green and blue.

I was working in the lighting studio earlier this week and really liked how the lighting looked on the figure so I took a picture.

I like the blue lighting in this photo.

I thought the pink lighting made this poster look even cooler than normal.

  1. I love the way the light from the Safe Light by the K reflects off the bronze wall. It’s not really that bright in person, but my camera made it brighter.
  1. It’s interesting to see all the light colors in the Sandburg towers when I leave work at midnight. It reminds me how different everyone is — I would find it very distracting if my room was bathed in bright pink light but some people like it!
  1. This is a picture my friend took of me when we were going to a corn maze over the weekend. The farm had a tunnel under the road which was lit by these weird fluorescent lights. I thought it was cool when it reflected off the walls of the tunnel.

The skeleton (his name is Boris) and blue light (from a clock in my parent’s living room) are my view from the front door every time I come home from work, While the TV screen is one of the screens in the miller high life theatre, and then one of the tunnels outside of it. They don’t really hit the mark for this week’s ‘theme’ but I think that’s okay!

I have a lot of halloween decorations in my room currently and I thought this glassware was cool. I have two led candles in it but the color of the glass emits a orange glow from the inside light. The speckled glass also creates texture to the light which is reflected on the objects surrounding it.

Over the weekend I got all of my halloween decorations set up and these spider light helped me get into the spooky vibe. I like the subtle colored light they give off in my room. Im pretty sure the lights in the spider bodies or white and it is being colored by the plastic spider. Because of this the light isnt as bright.

I was watching a band preform and since taking this class I have been more observant of the lights they used on stage. I caught this picture when it was all red. In person it looked more like back lighting but I think its cool to see it give a glow over the crowds heads.
