Glass/Water 3

On thanksgiving of course my mom had to get out all the fancy flat wear! (Some of which we forgot existed) we got into a discussion about fine China and crystal glasses! I was confused on why anybody would buy expensive crystal cups when my ones from target look fine! After all they’re both made of glass right? Well after my mom washed all the dust of them and sat them next to a normal glass cup, boy was I wrong, the way the crystal glasses caught the light and refracted it was honestly pretty amazing, nothing compared to my cheap 3$ target cups! Now could it be just the way the cups were designed maybe! But I looked on google quick and apparently crystal is more porous allowing it to refract more light! So! Look at that! this isn’t the exact ones but I didn’t happen to take a photo!

Glass/Water 2

Look at me go, how many cool effects can I find from the science building and entrepreneurship building? I think it’s pretty cool how two buildings can act as giant mirrors when the light hits them in the right way! Here you can see a rippling effect on this building from the sun hitting the newer science building! It looks so un-natural because our brains are thinking that according to our surroundings, that entire side should be darker. But because of the reflections, it’s not! Kind of trippy!

For the holiday season the Hoan Bridge is currently lit up for “Hanukkah on the Hoan”. Partnered with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Harry & Rose Samson Family JCC, Light the Hoan will light 8 support beams from right to left with flickering red, orange, and yellow lights to represent a candle’s flame.

Light on Glass -Aminah Rockett

The lighting here is coming through two different pieces of glass. It also is passing through the trees to make the pattern that’s seen. I thought it was interesting that light can be seen this way on a window. I usually only notice smaller reflections on surfaces like the floor or wall.
