This Thursday I was in the third ward working on a show, when I went out for a break and saw the sky do an amazing thing at sunset. The light created an interesting texture to the clouds with the warm color on top of the blue sky.

Light creates texture – Troy
The curtains in my friends house were straight and smooth most of the way but the angle of the lighting really showed the wrinkles on the edges

Over the weekend I tried a new hairstyle and the light and filter made this picture turn out really cool

I found these three pieces of textured glass at a garage sale and when I saw them I knew I would use them for something! I thought that I could shine some light though them and get an interesting effect. This was not quite the case. If I shined light though these pieces of glass nothing would happen. But a while ago I bought a scientific lens set that has all different kinds of lenses. What I did was take my desk lamp and shined it though the textured glass and then I moved a double convex lens in front of it until the lines were crisp. And thats how I got the textured images you can see below. The lens focuses the light that comes from the glass and projects it onto a surface like my wall!
The light shined though this one looks like ice. I love this texture and to me makes the light feel cold!
The light off of this piece of glass almost reminds me of the sun shining through the ocean. If I moved the lens back and forth the texture would look almost like waves!
The texture created from this piece of glass almost looks like perfectly arranged water droplets.

I took this picture while I was down town in the city. The square texture caught my eye and without seeing what the object was that casted this shadow I wouldn’t know what the object was. Just with the shadow’s texture alone it looks to me like a grated walk way. I could see myself walking on this walkway above the city! But of course with the rest of the visual information we can see that the shadow is created by a fence.

The cube was a project that I did a few years ago as a way to test light on objects. I really liked how i was able to cast unique shadows on the object itself. The dresser is a piece at MAM that has a fun way of playing with light. It created a hypnotic effect and would have otherwise looked flat had it been lit from the front.

I was sitting on my bed doing homework a few days ago, and I glanced up and thought these shadows made from my blinds were really cool. I especially liked the little holes of light made by the holes for the string in the blinds. I also thought it was really interesting how the shadow continued across my wall, but kept getting less refined as it got further from the window.

When I look at this photo, I see almost a dream state. The bluish glow, almost clouding the air of the scene. My camera struggled to capture it, but well defined shadows of the barriers down the road were cast onto the street. Almost as if the light were trying to make a perfect print of the item on the road. The lights continue down the road like beacons in the night.

I captured this Image while I was at the grocery store. The shape of the shadow caught my attention because it honestly looks like a butt on a ledge. (It’s not. It’s a bag of popcorn on top of a shelf) The other cool thing I like about this is how the zigzagging light points right to the distinct shape of the shadow.
