For my Feeling Color mini-series of woven sculptures, I wanted to compare how I feel/see emotions compared to others. I created a questionnaire with the goal of understanding the relationship and association between colors and our emotions/feelings, as well as everyday thoughts and fleeting moments. I chose mundane tasks and actions not usually associated with color, to give an insight into how we think about colors in our lives. I asked questions about the association’s individuals have between these actions and colors, such as: What color do you feel when you take the first bite of your favorite food? Each prompt in the questionnaire served as a basis for each different fragment of artwork that I created. All answers were colors chosen by people taking the survey describing what color they associate with a certain prompt. After collecting all my data, I converted the results into percentages and created physical visualizations of this data in weavings. The small weavings were then sewn together with roving and plain cotton fabric. This process generated a mini-series where the colors were not of my own choosing but are entirely based on the feedback of others.
