Growing Into Myself

The making of woven cloth is at the core of my artistic practice. My investigation into weaving is fueled by the qualities inherent in their structure, design and production. I use a floor loom to create woven pieces inspired by my college experience and how my art making process has evolved throughout this time. Using the bound weave style, I produce pieces of fabric that are intricate in pattern and bold in color. The works in this series progress from messy and chaotic to calm and under control, illustrating how I slowly matured and discovered the artmaking process I truly enjoy in college. The works are meant to communicate the complex and sometimes painful process of growing up and the search for creative outlets and ideas that bring happiness.
