Monoliths, Biomorphs

As an industrial designer, my work finds harmony between humanity, technology and the natural world.  An avid outdoorsman and naturalist, I explore Wisconsins seasons by snowshoe and canoe, and am most inspired by the natural architecture along Wisconsins Lake Superior coastline.  My sculptural work is a designed reflection of those experiences encountering the sweeping forms of Wisconsins rock formations, ice flows, plants and wildlife. [p] [i]Monoliths is a series of stone carvings that represent encountering the large ice and rock formations encountered while snowshoeing the Apostle Islands.  Carved from local limestone, they embody the highly geometric forms that feel somewhere between natural occurring and manmade. [p] [i]Biomorphs[i] is a series of sculptures evoking the experience of traversing our living northern shoreline under cedar boughs and towering cattails.  These active, elegant structures are carved from local northern white cedar and copper.
