Artist Statement

Essence of the Earth deals with earthly and spiritual connections within liminal spaces of consciousness as a means of healing and embodying oneness. I am investigating the language of life force energy, an invisible truth that requires humility, an awareness to the senses, and a conscious surrender to that which I do not understand. In an effort to explore these curiosities surrounding mind, body, and spiritual healing, I turn toward the natural world, fusing figure and landscape to create a single entity. The camera bears witness to my continuous discovery of existence beyond the physical world. By directing a sensory awareness toward Mother Earth, I consciously receive spiritual guidance from higher dimensions, no longer limiting myself solely to the physical plane. Paying particular attention to sensory aspects, I acknowledge that awareness is not only about responding to the environment, but recognizing the phenomenon of the internal experience. The natural landscape becomes a visual representation of my inner world, manifested through color, light, and shadow. Vibrant hues of color reference specific Chakra centers, indicating the fluctuation of the emotional, spiritual, and physical state of my being. By capturing moments where light and shadow coexist, I honor the presence of unbalanced, stagnant or blocked energy and surround it with cleansing light and love. As my consciousness expands, I align with my higher self with a clear understanding that I am one with the universe.
