Artist Statement

My work focuses on interaction and designing for play. When we engage in collaborative play, we build the foundations for stronger relationships with one another. By promoting this, my designs set out to create experiences that people remember and enjoy. This cabinet was built to be installed in a public place, like an office, dorm, or restaurant. It’s designed to be height-accessible and have a wide viewing angle, so both children and adults can play and spectate comfortably. Built using recycled PC components, the hardware inside has a massive amount of freedom when it comes to what it can play.  In the next stage of this project, this cabinet will host my indie platformer-shooter, Laputa. The cabinet itself even resembles the game’s protagonist, Juniper the rabbit. As a physical version of the game, I’ll be able to tour the game around barcades and other establishments. This completed machine marks the first step in bringing my dream into reality.
