Borrowed Dreams

Borrowed Dreams is a photographic exploration of the surreal landscape of other people’s dreams. To source the fleeting, intangible experiences of dreams, I conducted a survey in which participants shared vivid descriptions of their dreams, which I translated into the realm of reality. With a nod to the tradition of tableaux, my work reflects the antic and phantasmagoric atmospheres of these dreams—blurring the line between fantasy and actuality.

Through the lens of Borrowed Dreams, I engage in a visual game of telephone. Large, elaborate compositions entice viewers to step into a reconstructed dreamscape, shaped by appropriation, distortion, and reinterpretation. Using dream imagery to explore the fluid nature of memory, this series questions the essence of the subconscious world. It examines how we process the emotions, meanings, and details of our dreams—and how those perceptions shift as time reshapes them. Ultimately, the work encourages viewers to reflect on their own dreams, the feelings they evoke, and the way those feelings evolve with distance from the dream state.
