Artist Statement
As an artist, I want to tell a story within my work. Whether it’s through subtle fantastical elements or the design within a character featured in the illustration, there is always more than what is shown on the surface. My work often consists of a combination of traditional inks and digital refinements/colors, although there are times when I stick to just using photoshop or illustrator to create my art. While I have expanded out to color to reach a wider audience, I am an inker at heart. My work will often consist of large black areas to compliment the white areas in the piece and allow the lighter parts to stand out.
Art is a way for me to get lost in my own mind and temporarily escape from the world around me. Whether it’s obvious or not, there is always a backstory to what I am creating. Always a narrative behind the subject matter, no matter how simple it may be.
