Artist Statement

Weather Report

Flora and Fauna, weather, and odd happenings in nature are fascinating to me. My artistic inspiration is from nature, and nature’s darker possibilities as seen through my mind’s eye. I design creatures and environments that can be unsettling or leave a sense of unease. The purpose is to remind us that no matter how ordered one’s life is, there is a subtle chaos lurking that cannot be controlled. Weather Report is a comic that I have been developing for some time now. It’s a fantasy adventure aimed at young adults that focuses on two orphans setting out to solve the mystery of the strange weather patterns that are occurring around the region of Solarino. Within this story I hope to also achieve teaching the reader about weather and hopefully spark an appreciation for learning about it. All of it is drawn digitally, and within the story there are a variety of unique characters and animals my duo will encounter, with many trials and tribulations they will have to overcome. I hope to open the reader up to the same excitement you find in fantasy and adventure but to also in educating themselves on the subject of weather and its complexities, applying it within the story and the real world.
