Artist Statement

For my senior project I created a children’s book. I have always wanted to write and illustrate my own stories. I created my first book in Fall of 2019 and this is the second in the series. Each book focuses on an important topic, and this book emphasizes how to deal with guilt. I have previously developed my own characters and am incorporating them again in the illustrations. By using animal characters, I hope the story becomes more approachable to children as my audience. The books and their illustrations I saw as a child have always stuck with me along with their meanings. I think it is important for children to consider morals and experience life lessons at a young age. What we witness while young affect the rest of our adult life. My goal for this story and drawings are to share morals that have positively affected my life with others, in a more cheerful way.
