The Divine Feminine. This series of photographs explores acts of love and caring, celebrates womanhood, and relates to the interconnectedness we share with the natural world. Since the earliest societies, the possibility of love among women has been known, even when it was feared, disregarded or denied. As a woman today, I feel a constant sense of being observed but not always heard or understood. The work silently emulates that experience by reversing this “gazed at” sensation onto the spectator. By experiencing the work, the viewer is also being confronted and isolated as a watcher. The use of juxtaposed portraits and landscapes merging into one another act as interrupted conversations that create and destroy narratives of their own. The photographs invite the viewer in, but only for a second of time before they are reminded that they are an outsider. Growing up with single parent, my role models were my mother and her close group of friends that raised my sister and me. These early nurturing female bonds left a lifelong impact on how I view family, love, and my own identity as a woman. My intentions are to recognize and personify that same empowering, collective female energy
