Artist Statement

Night Hike

My seltzer brand, Night Hike, is meant to encapsulate the spontaneous rush of going for a walk in the forest on a dark and chilly night. Grab your friends, grab a can of night hike, and stay on the beaten path. Intriguing, moody, and vibrant, Night Hike packaging draws the eye with its crisp contour lines, chilling imagery and dynamic typography. The integration of the cannister label on the box is seamless, and images bring life into the negative space there would otherwise be. Texture is of course important for detail and keeping viewers engaged. While there is no physical detail on the packaging, the subtlety of the white scrapes aid in filling the voided areas with content. The word mark has a nice rhythm to it. Night Hike. The two come together cohesively and the word mark reflects that idea. Integration of the two words was a rigorous process, but at this point it is the most successful design element of the package. Night Hike hard seltzer is perfect for social butterflies and homebodies alike, and its chilling nature keeps it relevant for anyone who holds fear. The proudest aspect of the packaging is the emphasis on our theoretical partners in the forest conservation industry. Losing our beloved trees is the real danger we should fear. Onlookers can get involved by simply becoming consumers because a percentage of profits will be donated towards various conservation causes. In addition, the packaging provides easy to access resources for ambitious trail keepers to get their hands dirty.
