“Brain Vomit”
I think of my series as a method of time keeping. This meditative process of repeated lines and dots represents the amount of time and labour spent on each painting. The nonsubjective nature of the shape, lines and marks reflect my own method of keeping my ADHD at rest. The ideas and process became less about conceptual time and more about joining the physical process with my own thought process.
I utilized different sizes so that each painting in itself is complete, but when displayed altogether, each one compliments the other. The color combinations chosen create an optical experience, while the small attention to detail invites the viewer up close. The repetition of the lines and dots guide the eye around the space almost as if the marks are dancing on the surface, and the installation process allows for endless permutations of interaction between the pieces on the wall.
