Fred Eckman

Fred Eckman is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His research interests over the last ten years or so have been the investigation of the acquisition of target-language phonemic contrasts by adult language learners. He was the Principal Investigator on a grant from the National Institutes of Health titled “Markedness and Learnability” from August 2006 through July 2013 for $1.39 million.
