Dr. Xiao Qin, Ph.D., P.E. is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Director of the Safe and Smart (S2) Traffic Laboratory. He has published extensively on topics spanning highway safety, traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, and GIS applications in Transportation.
With many notable contributions, Dr. Qin has earned multiple awards from the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and the Wisconsin Institute of Transportation Engineers. He is a current member of the TRB Committee ANB20 Safety Data, Analysis, and Evaluation, ANB25 Highway Safety Performance, and a former member of ABJ80 Statistical Methods, where he serves in various capacities as paper review chair and the subcommittee member for the “best paper” award.
Dr. Qin is an Editor of the Journal of Transportation Safety & Security. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Accident Analysis and Prevention. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southeast University, China.
