Overview

UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is seeking innovative K-12 educators to participate in a three-day immersive boot camp where participants will discover, prototype and test new curricular and pedagogical ideas using Design Thinking.

Teachers will be exposed to Design Thinking – the foundation of human-centered design practices – via immersive collaborative experience. Through a series of design challenges, boot camp participants will be introduced to basic principles, tools, and mindsets used by human-centered designers. Design Thinking draws on methods from engineering and design, and combines them with ideas from the arts, tools from the social sciences, and insights from education. Teachers will learn how to apply human-centered design in education environment. More specifically, teachers will explore and experiment with practical ways of designing learning through intentional practice. Learning outcomes of the boot camp include increased creative confidence, improved curriculum designer’s abilities and curriculum experiments that can be implemented in their current school environment.
