Text: Topology, Second Edition, by James R. Munkres.
We will cover most of the material in Chapters 4 – 9.

Midterm Exam: Wednesday, March 11.

Final Exam: A comprehensive final exam will be given on Wednesday, May 13 at 10AM.

Homework: Homework will be regularly assigned. Students will present solutions to homework in class.

Grades: Your final grade will be determined by my judgment of your mastery of the subject matter and will incorporate performance on the homework problems and performance on exams with equal weight.

Additional problems: Some of the more challenging problems will be marked with asterisks. Students are encouraged to solve these and write up and hand in their solutions for extra credit.

To comply with a Higher Learning Commission requirement, we provide below information on the estimated amount of time an average student needs to invest in order to achieve the learning goals for this class:

• 40 hours in the classroom.
• 104 hours of study.
  Total number of hours: 144.

Deadlines:

February 3: LAST DAY to add classes, change from a graded basis to audit or credit/no credit status, or vice versa without approval.

February 17: LAST DAY to drop without “W”.

April 5: LAST DAY to drop.

Room changes, course cancellations, etc., are posted on Department letterhead only.

Students will be allowed to complete examinations or other requirements that are missed because of a religious observance.
