Assignment

The final major assignment is a one-sheet poster presentation, using two-person teams to investigate a topic of your choosing. The main reason for using posters is that the poster format allows you to share the results of your work with your colleagues. I will need to approve your topic by mid-November so you have time to identify day resources before Thanksgiving Break.  If you are having a hard time selecting a topic, please see me – I have ideas and publications to get you started.

Timeline

• Nov. 20: Poster topic selected, key sources identified
• Dec. 4: All sources read, notes compiled that are sufficient to outline structure of poster argument
• Dec. 6: Analyze layout options, select figures (8×11 sketch stage)
• Dec. 11: Mock-up with figures, draft version of text
• Dec. 13: Presentation

Evaluation

We will be using a AAPG/SEPM poster evaluation form to score the posters. Each of you will be asked to evaluate three posters during the poster session.
